RACE RESULTS
(Opens to a third party website)

brigadier_bullet_fd.JPGBrigadier Bullet bounced back to his very best form at Romford on Friday when scorching round in 34.95 in the last semi final of the Coronation Cup. A fast break from trap 6 (13.59 sectional) saw him lead round the first bend and it was over from that point, Garryglass Champ turned second and it looked for a while like our veteran was also going to qualify but he was just outgunned at the finish by Romeo Mandate who grabbed the other qualifying place though was 6 1/4 lengths behind Brigadier Bullet. In the first semi final Chubbys Caviar made it a hat trick of wins when bravely battling with Paul Young’s Pink Osteria. Neck and neck from the first bend, she finally out stayed her rival to win by 2 lengths in 35.35. We came close to landing all three semi finals when Saleen Ash blasted out the traps and led at the first bend. His real problem was it was only a four dog race and his other three strong running rivals including eventual winner Desperado Dan had a clean run at him. He was all out going into the last two bends and then just had his back legs clipped slightly losing him a vital 1/2 length. In a desperate finish up the home straight he couldn’t hang on to the lead or second place finishing 4th with just 1 1/2 lengths covering the field, his final time of 35.40 would have qualified from both the other semis!

Again it’s another classy six bend Final at Romford and both our in form duo still have to get everything right out the boxes as the majority of these big finals are won from the front despite it being over six bends. Brigadier Bullet, like in last months Essex Vase final, will trade a shade of odds on for the £5,000 to the winner curtain raiser. We have made a good start to 2019 to retain our Trainer of the Year title as this Category 2 competition has plenty of points available but would give us a great start if we could win it overall. The next big Romford event will be the Golden Sprint about March/April time and the work on the stadium still won't be completed but by the time we get to the Champion Stakes in August time the place should be buzzing with a brand new Grandstand.

Straight after this competition all roads lead to Crayford and it's nice seeing both Brigadier Bullet and Baroness Bullet at the head of Ladbrokes ante post outright market. Brigadier will have a look at the track next week all being well after the Coronation Cup, Baroness Bullet has another 575m trial at Romford today and is booked for a 714m solo on Saturday at Crayford. We will give the likes of Garryglass Champ and Kiltrea Mike (both semi finalists last year) a couple of runs in trial stakes.

OPEN RACING

Apart from the semi finalists in the Coronation Cup on Friday we had a few other open racers on the card though no joy with Kiltrea Mike running well when runner up in a 750m won in a fast 46.84 by Goldies Hotspur with Aayamza Breeze tapped for a bit of pace but running on well after the line.

On Sunday at Henlow the the one open filling where Acting School was second in a 550m Maiden by 3/4 length in 33.82 and Avastorm back in 3rd.

HENLOW REVIEW

adageo_zoomer_fd.JPGJust a few winners last week with Come Home winning an A10 well on Monday in 28.65. Our veteran bitch Energize Honey is still running well and took an A7 on Tuesday night in 28.52 and Kiltrea Mike went well in an S2 scoring by over 5 lengths in 33.72.

On Friday morning Sidarian Dino beat kennelmate Towstar Del Boy by a neck in 28.22 and not too much luck on Sunday from a few runners with Adageo Zoomer scoring well in an A7 in 28.36 beating our promising youngster Savana Matt.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

OPEN RACING - BRIGADIER BULLET
GRADED - ADAGEO ZOOMER

WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK

Romford on Friday night starts the open race year off with a bang, a great Coronation Cup final with a decent supporting card. Brigadier Bullet and Chubbys Caviar both have realistic chances of landing the spoils.

We will be at Crayford on Saturday and hopefully a few opens will fill at Henlow on Sunday.

WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS

Brigadier Bullet is our recommended bet in the Coronation Cup and trading at odds on now it was a good call, now, Chubbys Caviar was nearly my alternative choice and she goes into the final unbeaten and Brigadier will have to do everything right to beat her and some decent other rivals so I wouldn't put anyone off on having a saver on her.

ADVISED LAST WEEK

BRIGADIER BULLET - 2.5 pts each way 7/1 - Coral Coronation Cup - Romford - final Friday
