The open race season traditionally kicks off properly with the start of the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket at Crayford and it's always an event we like to do well in and on Tuesday we fielded six runners and it was a fine start with five of our team qualifying for Tuesday's semi finals. With fitness doubts about two of our main contenders Rubys Rascal and Garryglass Champ
it was particularly pleasing to see them both qualify with Garryglass Champ taking advantage of some trouble to scoot through to actually win his heat in 45.72. After over 10 weeks off with a broken toe he should come forward for the run while Rubys Rascal was having his first run since finishing sore in the Mitch Millward Marathon Final. Roswell Romanov's stamina doubts were tested to the limits and he came through with flying colours when a bold second to ante post favourite Shotgun Bullet. Kiltrea Mike and Cincinnati both big outsiders qualified on merit and rule them out at your peril.
The semi final draw could certainly have been more favourable to us as we have four runners in the first semi final in Cincinnati, Rubys Rascal, Roswell Romanov and Garryglass Champ and something will have to give somewhere. Whatever the result let’s hope they all come off safely. In the second semi final Kiltrea Mike is drawn well in the red vest and could run well at fancy odds. We also have the heats of the Peter Bussey Memorial starting and we bid to win for an unbelievable 7th time in succession. This year we are hopeful of retaining the title with either Ninja Penny, Honest Robber and Saleen Ash who all trialled reasonably well last Tuesday.
Our trip to Monmore on Saturday was mixed with Bruisers Bullet getting battered from pillar to post on the run up to the bend in the Joyce Lloyd Memorial race when finishing 5th. To be fair he wasn’t beaten that far considering the trouble he encountered and thankfully he seems to have come off ok. Shlowdown Sally was runner up in the sprint and Bonzos Bullet was ultra impressive in the 684m race showing real pace when winning and clocking an excellent 40.94
Bombers Bullet clocked an excellent 33.29 at Henlow on Sunday in the Maiden Gold Cup but still got beat as Slippy Maggie took off to collar Bomber on the run in to score very well and break the 33.00 mark. Our only other runner Not So Classical was eliminated after severe early trouble.
As said a decent night at Crayford on Tuesday with five qualifiers in the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket.
A busy Friday night where at Central Park in the heats of the Springbok both Swift Dartmoor and Parkers Dynamite we’re involved in messy races with Dartmoor beaten a long way but through in second place while Dynamite was unfortunately eliminated. Over at Romford Boylesports Duke ran a cracker when narrowly beaten in the Friday Night 500 Stayers heats. From our five runners Tread Lightly made sure we didn’t come away empty handed as our underrated sprinter won in 13.59.
As said only Bonzos Bullet won on our trip to Monmore on Saturday and on Sunday Bombers Bullet made it safely through to the next round of the Henlow Maiden Gold Cup when second.
On Friday just the one nice winner from our five runners when Ninja Fortune took an A2 well by nearly 4 lengths in a good 28.38.
No winners in the morning on Saturday but in the evening it was good to see our Adageo Bob pup Deans Hail Mary win her first race in 29.48. We also had good wins for Saffrons Tina (28.46) and Union Pride
A decent evening on Sunday as Swift Bravo won an A5 in 28.65, Saleen Story took an A4 in 28.75 and Sidarian Dino won a decent A4 in 28.46 while we had the forecast in the A3 where Swift Cobra beat a gallant Calco Swift in 28.42.

WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS
Plenty of interest in the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket and our ante post selection Rubys Rascal will need all his awesome power to make the final. In the Springbok we lost Parkers Dynamite but Swift Dartmoor still carries our hopes
Of course everyone wants to know who will win the Peter Bussey Memorial starting tomorrow and while I feel any of our three could go all the way but if I was to have a fiver ew on something I would side with Saleen Ash if there is any ante post betting available.
SALEEN ASH - 2 pts ew anti post - Peter Bussey Memorial Trophy - Crayford - Tuesday
ADVISED LAST WEEK
RUBYS RASCAL - 2.5 pts ew ante post 14/1 - Ladbrokes Golden Jacket - Crayford - semis Tuesday
SWIFT DARTMOOR - 1.5 pts ew ante post 20/1 - Springbok - Central Park - Friday - semis this Friday
