Even though Evanta Evita finished second in the Calne Racing Arc final at Swindon on Wednesday we couldn't have been more pleased with her, she tried her heart out to try and get past the eventual winner Kippers Usain but she couldn't quite get there. No excuses the best dog won on the night and well done to Chris Allsopp and his team. Calco Flyer got a hefty bump at the first bend when down the field but wasn't disgraced and both will now set their sights on Wimbledon for the Derby but I might just send Calco Flyer to Nottingham first for the Truframe Stud Book Trophy, he certainly thrives on his work.

domino_storm_fd.JPGIt was a great card at Swindon on Wednesday and I was pleased with our supporting runners. Domino Storm is an awesome bitch and proved how unlucky she was when knocked out the Arc semi finals when landing the Ladies 480m in great style. Her time of 28.34 was the fastest at the track for two years and if she gets some rails draws in the Derby could be another bitch like Evanta Evita to go a long way, Billys Bullet is a regular winner on Sky and picked up another win over 686m showing speed, bravery and most essentially track craft. The Coral Regency next for Billys Bullet where he is sure to go off ante post favourite, Swift Whirlwind ran well in the puppy race when 2nd as did Van Frankie over 509m. I wasn't disappointed with Aero Twizzle in a good sprint as he has had massive injury problems and that was his first race of the year, if he could stay sound he will win his fair share. The one disappointment on the night was Vanfrenchie who finished lame and faces a few weeks on the sidelines.

aero_nemesis_fd.JPGWe will be at Wimbledon the next couple of Wednesday's with a few of our hopeful entries and I'm looking for runs under 29.00. To be honest I can't see the point of entering if a greyhound can't dip under this time, to win you need to be able to do sub 28.50. One dog who broke that time more than once last year was Aero Nemesis and there's no doubt it all went wrong after the Derby where he was eliminated at the semi final stage and came back a week later to win the Derby invitation in a faster time than the Derby winner. But he's back now and maybe he comes into his own at this time of year and judging by his stunning 23.59 win at Romford on Friday who knows he may go one step further this year. I will probably keep him to just one trial at Wimbledon as too many runs over the 480m might not suit.

parkers_poison_fd.JPGStuart Forsdike, who owns Aero Nemesis, sponsored the PCS Legal Puppy Oaks at Towcester on Saturday and the standard of the four heats looked very high. Parkers Poison got back to winning ways and was very impressive for us when landing heat 4 with Roxholme Hottie for Hayley Keightley certainly catching the eye when recording the fastest time. The new Totoepool Premier League kicked off with four legs. It was supposed to have involved 12 trainers but last minute drop outs and excuses from many of the intended leading trainers forced Towcester to reduce the seven month event to six trainers. Barrie Draper and Paul Young sent strong teams to run against ourselves, Kevin Hutton, Heather Dimmock and Eric Cantillon. The races where strong and Eric Cantillon just came out on top on the night. Blonde Nipper ran well but finished second to Eric's Blackrose Vic but both Cloudbursting and Blue Moment missed their breaks and finished out of the points (only first three home score) so it was left to Black Francis to rescue our night and he didn't let us down scoring convincingly over 655m. I really hope this new event is a success as there is generous money for both owners and trainers and in this day and age I really can't understand some trainers who won't embrace or put themselves out to be a part. The bigger picture is that if it works this year then I'm sure it will be bigger and better each year. I won't hesitate to say my piece if I hear certain trainers moaning on TV that there's no financial rewards for them anywhere.

OPEN RACING

Swindon on Wednesday was a good night overall even though we were just beaten in the Calne Racing Arc final as Evanta Evita finished second. Domino Storm and Billys Bullet were fine winners on the supporting card.

On Friday at Romford we had three thirds from our four runners with Aero Nemesis most impressive clocking a flying 23.59 over 400m.

On Saturday at Towcester Parkers a Poison showed a blistering turn of early pace to win her heat off the PCS Legal Puppy Oaks in 28.38 with Ribble Rush running well to qualify in second place. The Totepool Premier League Leg 1 wasn't going quite to plan for our team but another excellent performance from Black Francis saved the day.

Aero Babooshka recorded her 12th win of her career at Henlow on Sunday showing a fine turn of pace to lead at the third bend and score comfortably. Ilewin Allot was just touched off in a 428m race.

TOWCESTER REVIEW

ilewin_frimley_fd.jpg

On Friday a rare blank with Forest Vanessa and Clondoty Alex (making his debut) best when second and on Saturday we had a few more runners up in Garryglass Pixie, Roswell De Niro, Vanmaestro and Benkaat Dolly.

Cisberry Geo and Billis Blitz also got our Sunday off with another couple of seconds while Ilewin Frimley scored an overdue success in 28.73.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

OPEN - AERO NEMESIS
GRADED - ILEWIN FRIMLEY

WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK

Trials at Romford on Tuesday and Wimbledon on Wednesday before we look forward to the heats of the Coral Regency on Thursday at Hove where Billys Bullet looks to hold all the Aces.

We will be at Romford Friday and on Saturday the semi finals of the PCS Legal Puppy Oaks take centre stage at Towcester.

WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS

Evanta Evita nearly gave us lovely ante post touch on Wednesday at Swindon when runner up in the Arc.

There was no ante post betting in the Puppy competition at Towcester on Saturday which is a shame as our selection Parkers Poison bolted in.

The Coral Regency at Hove kicks off on Thursday and I can see Billys Bullet being very short, we must still have a bet as he looks in such scintillating form. Another in great form is Black Francis and he may be worth an e.w interest.

BILLYS BULLET - 5 pts win ante post - Coral Regency - Hove - starts Thursday

BLACK FRANCIS - 2 pts e.w ante post - Coral Regency - Hove - starts Thursday

ADVISED LAST WEEK

EVANTA EVITA - 2 pts e.w ante post 16/1 - Calne Racing Arc - Swindon - 2nd (8pts profit)

PARKERS POISON - 2. pts e,w ante post - PSC Legal Puppy Oaks- no betting
