clondoty_alex1.JPGAnother week and another Sky final win as Clondoty Alex was a game winner of the Silver Salver final at Central Park on Tuesday over 450m. Breaking much better than in his heat Alex rode a bump well to lead up and go clear but was all out to hold the game  My Mate Max by 3/4 length to land the £2,000 first prize. That's the third final in succession on Sky that we have been lucky enough to win and who knows we might well have a say in the next one at Crayford as the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket is now in progress and is the feature of the Sky night on 21st February. We brilliantly won the event last year with Patchys Kerry and after the heats on Saturday another bitch on fire Rubys Razzle could very well follow her path. Trapping well from trap 5 she had to fend off the strong challenge from Russelena Reggie but did so winning by 2 lengths in a slick 45.41. Both Ferryforth Fran and Rubys Rascal are still bang in with chances despite not winning their heats. Rubys Rascal did well to qualify after missing his break and getting stopped in his tracks at most of the bends,. This is a very hot competition and all three will have to be at their best to make the final. The semi finals will be on Saturday morning this week and as well as the three Jacket semi finalists we will have runners in supporting races including the Peter Bussey Memorial trial stakes.

It's been another hectic weekend and Monday so apologies for being brief. I have to admit that since the Derby has been announced I've been inundated with calls to take dogs in and I'm sure this year is one that's going to be gripped by Derby fever. Tickets that went on sale last week I hear are being snapped up and it seems everyone I speak to will be there on the night. I'm now thinking to just have a runner make the final would be very special indeed, who knows with plenty of new names coming on the card one of these could be the one!

OPEN RACING

At Central Park on Tuesday Clondoty Alex took the Silver Salver while both Swift Bravo and Garryglass Champ were 2nd. Earlier in the night Ela Ela Genie took off to land a sprint in a good 16.13 on a slow track.

On Friday at Romford we kicked off with a winner when Broxbourne Spark flew around 400m in 24.06. In the heats of the 575m Maiden Saffrons Tina used the benefit of the previous week's experience when winning well in a fine 35.39 and a first ever open victory went to Giveabitback Sue in the heats of the 400m Maiden event. Calco Flyer again ran a blinder when second in the Friday Night 500 Standard final.

As well as our Golden Jacket qualifiers on Saturday night including our winner Rubys Razzle we had Airforce Duchess who ran a blinder to win first time up at the track over 540m by over 6 lengths in 33.88.

TOWCESTER REVIEW

nimrod_son_fd.JPGOn Tuesday Broxbourne Spark came closest from our five runners when second. On Saturday morning's card Swift Kaylee was our only winner running well to score in 29.24 (calc),. A better night with four winners - Energize Honey having her first run back from season took off to win by over 6 lengths in 29.11, Muchas Gracias making her debut ran very well to get up and score by a short head in 28.86 in an A6. Nimrod Son a prolific winning dog in 2015 but a series of injuries meant he spent most of 2016 on the sidelines bounced back to win a D2 in 15.54, his first win since November 2015! Roswell Red Kite took the S1 in good style in 40.09 calc.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

OPEN - RUBYS RAZZLE
GRADED - NIMROD SON

WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK

Just Garryglass Champ in an open tonight at Towcester.

Ela Ela Genie goes back to Hove on Thursday for a minor sprint event and Friday we will have plenty of runners including the return of Roswell Romanov and both Saffrons Tina and Giveabitback Sue in small finals.

All eyes will be on Crayford Saturday morning as the ultra hot Ladbrokes Golden Jacket semi finals take place as well as other supporting races.

WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS

Stellas Veekayee our lively outsider for the Golden Jacket blew out at the first stage but as I expected Rubys Rascal qualified but his price hasn't changed and now is the time to get on. He can't get a worse run than he did in his heats and massive improvement is expected.

RUBYS RASCAL - 5 pts win ante post 7/1 - Ladbrokes Golden Jacket - Crayford - semi finals Saturday

ADVISED LAST WEEK

STELLAS VEEKAYEE - 2 pts e.w ante post 25/1 - Ladbrokes Golden Jacket - Crayford - lost
