After the excitement of last week's brilliant Ladbrokes Golden Jacket victory at Crayford it was back to business as usual this week, we are always going to be busy with our Towcester and open race commitments and not every week is going to be as successful as the previous one. We came down to earth when our ante post favourite for the Coral Golden Sprint Evanta Fantasy was eliminated in the first round at Romford on Friday. This was the second time in two years Fantasy has slightly got it wrong in the Category 1 event but I'm sure she will bounce back to win plenty of more races in what has been a good career so far. Thankfully we still have two chances left of making an impact with Adageo Djongo and our Markwallisgreyhounds Racing Club's exciting new recruit Saffrons Boxer when they compete in this Friday's semi finals.
What I love about our kennel is that each week that goes by we always seem to be involved in the big races and competitions and this week is another one to look forward to. Tomorrow night at Wimbledon Ballymac Shirley steps up again in class when she takes on an excellent line up for the prestigious Racing Post Juvenile Championship race. It's great just getting an invite for the race and Shirley warmed up with a decent 28.86 (-10) solo trial last Wednesday over track and trip. She hadn't run for two weeks since her brilliant win at Sittingbourne in the Trainers Championship meeting and will come on for the spin, her draw in trap 3 is perfect and though still likely to be a fair price I see no reason why she couldn't be in the mix. We have some of our kennel stars on show in supporting races including the Bitch of the Year in 2015 Domino Storm, TV Trrophy 3rd Ribble Atom is back over the marathon trip and Billy's Bullet is still progressing after injury and runs over the 686m which should suit him. Roswell Iceman and Calco Flyer have a spin before they go to Swindon on Saturday for the first round of the Calne Racing Arc, Domino Storm will join them as well as Clondoty Alex and Airforce Duchess.
Another major event taking place is the Ladbrokes Monmore Puppy Derby and it always is a great form guide for the future. Both Mass Megan and Ruby's Rascal went out in the opening round last Thursday but the 480m trip is probably a bit sharp for them, both should do well over the coming months and in particular Ruby's Rascal is an excellent staying prospect. We did however have one qualifier, only just, in Tellhimjohn and he has a reasonable chance of making the final from a trap 1 draw in this Thursday's semi final.
We have many new names coming on the cards especially at Towcester and we have plenty of new pups coming in so its a hectic period for us, we still have some nice pups on our for sale page as we build up to having a strong kennel strength for the future. The news that Wimbledon is closing is a real blow for the sport as a whole but in Towcester we have a bright future. Our Markwallisgreyhounds Racing Club is going from strength to strength and is well worth a look if anyone is looking to get involved in ownership at affordable prices, please contact me if you are interested in being a part of Imperial Kennel's great success story.
A mixed night at Towcester on Tuesday in the opens as Ela Ela Genie and Macs On Storm both ran well when 2nd. Billys Bullet found all the trouble going when only 4th but a nice win for a future staying star Droopys Achieve who took a Novice Stayers in a 40.26 (-50)
On Wednesday at Swindon Roswell Iceman (28.93) impressed in a trial before racing and there was a good workout for Airforce Duchess and Clondoty Alex while Calco Flyer was a slightly unlucky 3rd in a 480m race.
On Thursday at Monmore both Mass Megan and Ruby's Rascal just missed out on qualifying in the Ladbrokes Puppy Derby but Tellhimjohn made it through when 3rd in his heat.
Not the greatest night for the kennel at Romford but both Saffrons Boxer and Adageo Djongo made it through to the semi finals of the Golden Sprint and both Swift Whirlwind and Ribble Aon ran well when 2nd over 575m.
On Friday Micky Thebutcher ran well on debut leading on the run in to score by 1 1/2 lengths in 29.46 (-20). Ruby's Razzle was most impressive beating kennelmate Swift Bravo by 4 1/2 lengths in 28.82 (-10). Parkers Star (3rd) and Saffrons Champ (2nd) both ran well.
On Saturday Vangaal was 2nd on debut as was Nimrod Son. In the S1 we had four runners and Parkers Poison set the pace but was out stayed by Ferryforth Fran who ran well to win in 39.86 (-40).

WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK
A busy week starting tomorrow at Wimbledon on an excellent Sky card with the Racing Post Juvenile looking an absolute cracker, plenty of opens at Towcester as well for RPGTV.
On Thursday the semi finals of the Ladbrokes Monmore Puppy Derby take centre stage and Tellhimjohn has a fair chance of qualifying for the final.
Both Saffrons Boxer and Adageo Djongo have tough tasks in the semi finals of the Coral Golden Sprint at Romford on Friday.
On Saturday the Calne Racing Arc kicks off at Swindon and we hope to have a strong entry and on Sunday we might have runners in the Bunny Bookmakers Gold Cup at Henlow.
WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS
Evanta Fantasy only got it slightly wrong out the boxes and that was the end of her Golden Sprint which is a shame, however Tellhimjohn is still in the Monmore Puppy Derby and has a good draw for the semi finals this Thursday so we could still get a decent return.
A great card at Wimbledon tomorrow night featuring the Springbok and the Juvenile. Ballymac Shirley faces her toughest task to date but I certainly wouldn't put it past her to improve again. Though likely to be short the best bet on the card should be Domino Storm, she loves Wimbledon and will come on a bundle for last week's trial.
The Calne Racing Arc starts on Saturday and should Domino Storm come out of tomorrow's race in good shape she will take her chance. She was desperately unlucky in last year's semi final and then came back to win most impressively on the final card so she has great course form. Last year's finalist Calco Flyer is running well without winning and might be a spot of value to reach the decider again.
