Patchys Kerry is still on course to break the hoodoo of an ante post favourite never winning a Ladbrokes Golden Jacket after another solid win in the heats at Crayford on Saturday night. Again showing good early pace (23.06 sec) our Champion Stakes winner never looked like getting beat and held a clear advantage all the way round eventually beating Rearguard Bond by 6 lengths in 45.42 on a slowing down track. It was a mixed night overall for our team, Parkers Poison just missed out in her heat when 4th, a messy heat 4 saw Ribble Atom virtually on the floor at the first bend ending her chances while Black Francis somehow came out the bend in front and took full advantage of the melee behind winning by nearly 9 lengths in 46.02. Aayamzamodel really had to lead over this distance and the fact she was outgunned to the bend by Diesel Flo meant she was under pressure from the off but to her credit she stuck to her task and though well beaten she hung on for that vital qualifying 3rd spot. Ferryforth Fran was back in 4th and was unlucky when knocked off balance at the 6th bend when coming to challenge. The draws have worked out reasonably well with all three of our qualifiers in separate semi finals next Saturday and Patchys Kerry faces a mouth watering clash against fastest first round winner Droopys Tamera.
It's an exciting time on the track as we are now only eight days away from the GTA Trainers Championship meeting at Sittingbourne and our team is shaping up nicely. Ballymac Shirley won a 480m race nicely last week and youngster Droopys Achieve ran well over 500m when second in a puppy race. More importantly a fabulous trial from Domino Storm before racing where she beat our in form Roswell Iceman by 2 lengths in a flying 28.87 (-20) bodes well for our chances of putting right our defeat at the hands of Kevin Hutton last year. Tomorrow we will trial all of our team plus a couple of reserves in what is likely to be an informative session at the Kent track. Our star names will include Domino Storm, Rosewell Iceman, Billys Bullet, Clondoty Alex, Droopys Achieve, Ballymac Shirley, Garyglass Pixie, Ferryforth Fran, Calco Flyer, Ribble Aon and Ela Ela Genie. I won't decide on my final team probably until the last minute, the teams and draws will be announced at the luncheon on the London Yacht on the Thames by the Embankment on Wednesday.
We have had plenty of interest in our pups up for sale from last week which are all from the Ian Greaves school of excellence. These are the cream of Ian's stock which I viewed when I visited Ian's kennels in Monasterevin last weekend and will hopefully be our stars of the future.
Ballymac Shirley blasted out the traps to win a 480m GTA sponsored open at Sittingbourne on Tuesday in 29.32 (-20). Droopys Achieve ran well when 2nd in the puppy race over 590m and Calco Flyer was a close up 3rd in another 480m Standard. At Towcester in the heats of the Bags Championship Puppy heats Experto Crede gained his first open win when leading all the way to score by 1 3/4 lengths in 28.76 (-20). Earlier Rubys Rascal completely missed his break and could only finish 4th in his heat. Billys Bullet continued his comeback with an easy success over 655m in 39.75 (-30).
At Romford on Friday the feature race was the sprint final but Evanta Fantasy couldn't escape a poor draw in trap 4 and was bumped out of contention. Not too much to cheer about until veteran Blonde Razor scored again over 575m in a calculated 33.57. On Saturday both Black Francis and Patchys Kerry scored well in the heats of the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket.
On Tuesday Tellhimjohn took full advantage of the trap 1's slip to win the Kennel Sweepstakes from the Bags Championship winning money, scoring by over 4 lengths in 28.87 (-20) and Cisberry Geo was back to form with a 2 1/2 length A4 win in 28.74 (-30)
Just four runners on Friday but nice wins for two puppies. Mass Megan running on to score by 3/4 length in 29.01 (-20) in an A5 while Keeperhill Rage showed she is a promising stayer in the making leading at the 4th bend to win by 1 1/4 lengths in 29.20 (-20)
Saturday was a case of the not quite with no winners but plenty of seconds which included Fivestar Calvin, Vandiva, Famias Hope (ran well) and Airforce Joe.

WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS
Patchys Kerry got us off to a good start in the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket and Aayamzamodel kept her hopes alive when hanging on for a place. We expect good things so hopefully we will get a decent run for our money. Next week we can review the Trainers Championship meeting where we hope to go one better than last year.
