A busy open race schedule coming up in the next three weeks and beyond and no doubt we are looking over our shoulders in the Trainer Of The Year title as Paul Young has nibbled away at our huge lead. It now stands at less than 180 points but if I'm honest we are set for a great last few months and expect to be dominating some big events like we did in the first four months of 2014.
Today the Caffreys Puppy Classic kicks off and for the first time in a few years we are not represented. I don't feel that some of our pups are ready for this event and Nottingham is not a place to go if you don't think you can win. On Wednesday we have the East Anglian Challenge Final at home track Yarmouth and it was good to see our Derby semi finalist Aero Nemesis return to the winner's podium when landing his heat on Saturday in good style. He will have last year's East Anglian Derby winner and course specialist Any Dak to beat. This is a good warm up event to the £15,000 to the winner East Anglian Derby starting on 3rd September. On Friday we will send a team to Monmore for the heats of the 415m, 480m Puppy and 630m events supporting the Ladbrokes Gold Cup.
The following week we also have valuable events at Henlow and the Brighton Belle where Evanta Evita will be looking to avenge Saturday's unlucky defeat at Wimbledon. We are less than three weeks away from the Coral Champion Stakes at Romford over 575m and it was great to see our possible contenders in excellent form on Friday with the incredible Adageo Bob winning for the eighth consecutive time over course and distance. Essex Vase winner Reel Trickyone is still the champion at Romford having won the Coronation Cup as well and will not relinquish his 575m crown easily and he also warmed up with a victory on Friday. Add to the mix Aayamzamodel and a pleasing debut over the trip for Blackstone Marco and there is every reason to think this could be a big point scorer for the team.
I'm currently away with my family enjoying a relaxing time and will do a more in depth blog next week.
Take a look at 'Pete's Column' this week where we have a guest writer with an interesting article on the gambling industry.
No luck at Sheffield on Tuesday with Ayamzamodel and Aayamzabella both running well when second.
On Friday as said above we had wins at Romford over 575m for Blackstone Marco, Reel Trickyone and Adageo Bob while Evanta Fantasy took the honours in a hot puppy race over 400m to complete an excellent night.
On Saturday Evanta Evita just failed to land the £500 Ladies 480m final at Wimledon but at Yarmouth Aero Nemesis won his heat of the East Anglian challenge.
Three winners from four runners at Henlow last night with Club Notes, Vanfrenchie and Sidaz Dippy giving us a good end to the week.
Just four graded runners on Saturday but excellent wins for Saffrons Roxsy (28.28) and Swift Sandra (28.15).
