Jazz Tilly ran her heart out when finishing a good runner up to Charlie Lister's Hather George in the Category 1 Coors Three Steps To Victory Final at Sheffield last Tuesday. Breaking well she was just beaten for that vital first bend lead by Hather George and the race looked over but coming towards the last bend she closed to within a length of the leader but Tilly just didn't have enough in the tank to pass as the line approached and gallantly went down a length in a fast 38.95. It was a good performance from Jazz Tilly and her main aim will be at Sunderland for the Grand Prix unless she comes into season but first will take in a heats and final competition starting at Monmore this week.
If the Sheffield competition was very good class then the Coral Regency at Hove has surpassed it. After the semi's on Thursday we are left with a superb line up and our very own Sidaz Dippy has done exceptionally well to make the final. She reeled in long time leader Longford By Pass to get up on the line and take the 3rd semi in 42.27 though her time was a lot slower than the other two semi's won by Fear Emoski and Bubbly Swallow. Sidaz Dippy is only a May 11 whelp and will need a flyer from trap 4 in the final to have a chance but she looks an exciting prospect for the future. Tuesday's Hove card live on Sky looks excellent and we should have some chances with the likes of up and coming pup Blonde Razor who was an eye catching second at Sheffield to Teddy The Legend and also Bridge Ruth who loves the track will be a short price in the bitches race over 515m.
It's hard to believe the Derby is a little over two weeks away now and we are now thinking seriously about our preparation for our likely entries. Our main news is that Bridge Honcho out with a broken hock since last December has returned with some tremendous trials at Coventry his sprints were very good 15.93 and 15.79 while yesterday he clocked a phenomenal 28.84 which is 15 spots inside Farloe Warhawk's track record. He will probably have one race before he goes into the draw but at this stage he looks a real player for us. The Olympic at Hove last summer is still fresh in the mind where he led Ballymac Eske by 4 or 5 lengths before being reeled in on the run in over 515m. Glanmire Lad has returned to his best form and won convincingly at Romford on Friday in a fast 23.87 with a flying 3.56 sectional, he will trial at Wimbledon either Friday or Saturday. Ayamzaman has been resting for 3 weeks but returned to Yarmouth on Saturday with a stunning 16.21 trial and will definitely take his chance. Bridge Ruth is in great form and wouldn't be a bad bet for the bitch to go the furthest. Benkaat Blue loves Wimbledon and will take in the Stud Book Trophy at Monmore first. Ard To Beat now called Benkaat Nero has been missing his break of late but has pace to burn and Dan Daley will have three entries as Garryglass Rodge will have a trial at Wimbledon after he runs in the heats and hopefully final of the Coral On T.V Standard at Romford tonight. Others that will take their chance are Real Trickyone, Bridge Bandit and Carkei Max.
Sadly we have to report the loss of one of our real tryers in the kennel and a beautiful little dog Springdale Hawk after sustaining a serious injury when knocked over in an open at Romford last Monday, we are all sorry for owner Steve Cox's loss.
At Romford on Monday only Darian Chief made it through to Friday's Tony Byerley Stakes Final over 575m when second. Jazz Tilly was a gallant second in the Three Steps To Victory Final and Blonde Razor was also a good second to Teddy The Legend in a hot Puppy race.
Sidaz Dippy scored us some good points in the Trainer Of The Year title when landing the semi-final of the Coral Regency with Hometown Honey not far away but missing out in 4th. Ard To Beat and Toosey Milly were both third in supporting races.
Darian Chief ran well in the Tony Beyerley Stakes final when second at Romford on Friday. Skips Special improved on recent performances when second in a 400m Maiden while the performance of the night was saved for Glanmire Lad blistering around in 23.87.
Yarmouth's Great Ormond Street Charity night on Saturday was a huge success and on their all open race card it was good to see Lil Risky after a short rest break the trap 1 hoodoo from the sprint boxes winning in 16.44 (-10) while Aayamzabella showed her class winning the Marathon by 9 lengths in a fine 53.47. Both Polar Sean and Darian Creek ran well when second.
At Coventry on Sunday not the best of nights with Hillcross Miami and Bridge Bandit best of the runners in third place.
Only runners on Wednesday with Hillcross Dakota back from season best of ours when second in A4 company.
