Another excellent week for the kennel with a good amount of open and graded winners at various tracks. The highlight of the week undoubtedly was the semi-final winning performance of Directors Spur in the prestigious Monmore Puppy Derby last Thursday. Turning a handy 2nd out of the first two bends this strong running pup had no problems catching and passing the well fancied Millies Hawk in a fine 28.37. We now go into this Thursday's £12,500 to the winner final with a live chance and after drawing trap 1 we are hopeful of going one better than in previous years where the likes of Courage Boy, Butterbridge Ali and more significantly last year Kinda Ready were all runners up in the event. I must admit that to see Directors Spur priced up as the outsider of the field is hugely surprising to me as this is only his seventh race in total and after recovering from a serious bout of kennel sickness at the start of the year and also having his confidence knocked when taking a crashing fall in only his second race he looks likely to find more improvement. If he could just trap a bit better I feel it will be there for the taking. Whatever his fate Directors Spur looks sure to give owners Bill McCluskey and Alan Dee a chance of winning some top class races and has a bright future ahead of him.

The Trainers Championship meeting at Doncaster is fast approaching and we took the chance last Tuesday to trial a squad of twelve at the galloping circuit. We came away mostly very happy with the night's work with in particular Eye Onthe Storm (29.82), Kinda Ready (29.92), Dalcash Scolari (29.98) and Eye Eye Pickle (30.06) going well over the stiff four bends. Recent Sittingbourne track record holder Eye Onthe Flash seemed to hit the rails when recording 30.24 and Jodu Fame (3032) stumbled out the boxes but still went well. The puppy race seems to be giving us most concern. I wouldn't use Directors Spur as there won't be time to give him a trial but I think Rockburst Canyon can do a job for us. If the race was 460m he would be an automatic choice but the 483m is as far as he wants and his trial when beating the green Bim Bam Boozle 3 lengths in 30.37 was only OK. The Sprint race seems to be sorted as the hugely impressive Directors Wit blistered round in a flying 16.84 when beating Kinda Easy 4 1/2 lengths while Jogadusc Ace (17.31) and Risky Wand (17.54) got involved in a barging match in their trial. We will be heavily reliant on our two Stayers Kinda Easy and Corrig Vieri and we were pleased to see them both record confidence boosting wins at Hall Green yesterday afternoon. All in all I think we have a powerful squad and will be keeping our fingers crossed that the draws are kind to us at the end of the week. In next week's newsletter I will have an in depth look at the races and our chances.

If any owners or guests would like to come to Doncaster to support the kennel then please let me know by the end of the week so I can sort some tickets and maybe some restaurant places out. Betfair have a lounge but they only have limited numbers available.

OPEN RACING

No luck with our two puppies at Nottingham on Monday and as said our triallers at Doncaster went very well on Tuesday. On Wednesday at Harlow Risky Invader looked very sharp when trouncing his field by over 5 lengths in 26.11 (-20) over 415m> The feature race the Monkey Stayers final looked at the mercy of Matt Dartnall's Freedom Cody but a back to form Bell Tornado had other ideas. Blasting from the traps he led all the way holding off the strong Perfect Review by 3/4 length in 38.18 (-40) to land the £500 first prize.

On Thursday as said Directors Spur caused a surprise to many but maybe not to us when winning the semi-final of the Monmore Puppy Derby at juicy odds of 12/1 while at Sittingbourne the same night Gan On Parker (3rd), Rockburst Mason (3rd) and Eye Onthe Tempo (3rd) all ran well but the evergreen Directors Ruler produced a shock when beating hot pot Lenson Bolt by a ENlgth in 29.41 (-20).

A visit to Hall Green for their Mothers Day matinee meeting didn't start too well with Kinda Razzle and Catunda Mae well beaten after finding severe trouble. Aero Bolt was 2nd in the puppy race before Corrig Vieri took the 670m by a diminishing 1 1/2 lengths after scorching to a near 8 length lead at halfway in 41.50. Nonetheless it was a confidence boosting win ahead of the Trainers Championship. In div 2 of the 480m Standard Foulden Vieri ran well to score by 3/4 length in 28.77 and in the 480m Maiden All That Noise showed a real liking for the track showing good pace and trackcraft to win by 3/4 length in 28.59. Marathon runner Join The Maids was a well beaten 2nd to Whinfell Olivia. In div 1 of the 460m Standard Adageo was 4th in a hot race and to finish Kinda Easy raced to a fine win by over 4 lengths in the 642m in 38.85 (-15) to complete a great week for the kennel.

HARLOW REVIEW

One graded runner and one winner on Wednesday when Circle The Camp won well on her debut by 2 lengths in 27.04 (-20) and on Saturday Radnor Blue won again in 26.53 (+10). Siesta Smudge beat kennelmate Severn Barcelona in 26.43 (+10), Agincourt Fancy showed great early (4.79 split) to win by 1 1/2 lengths in 26.28 (+10), Eye Onthe Pulse was 2nd in an A4 before Carden Boss scorched to a 3 1/4 length win in 26.28. Legit Jack knows how to win and flew up the run in to get up and score by 3/4 length in 26.32 to complete an excellent night for the kennel.

WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK

On Tuesday another trip to Doncaster with Dalcash Scolari, Eye Eye Pickle and Jodu Fame in action in races while Eye Onthe Storm and Kinda Ready have another spin over 483m a week ahead of the Trainers Championship meeting. Opens at Harlow Wednesday and Sittingbourne Thursday while the main feature of the week is the Monmore Puppy Derby also on Thursday with Directors Spur bidding to land the prestigous event.

WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS

A profit shown with our selections for Hall Green yesterday courtesy of All That Noise's victory but a potential huge pay day ahead with Directors Spur in Thursday's Monmore Puppy Derby, recommended ante-post at 50/1 he lines up with a fine chance from trap 1. This should keep us excited for this week but if Glenagower Champ is odds against at Harlow on Wednesday he would be worth a fair bet.

GLENAGOWER CHAMP - 3 pts win - Harlow - Wednesday

ADVISED LAST WEEK

ALL THAT NOISE - 2 pts win - Hall Green - Sunday - WON 9/4

CATUNDA MAE - 1 pt win - Hall Green - Sunday - lost

AERO BOLT - 1 pt win - Hall Green - Sunday - lost

DIRECTORS SPUR - 1 pt e.w ante-post 50/1 - Monmore Puppy Derby - Final Thursday
