Having just returned tonight from my annual November trip to Portugal (blinding weather, golf and company) this week's newsletter is short and sweet.
The most sweetest thing of last week was the stunning performance of Dalcash Scolari to land the £4,000 Henlow Silver Salva, running through the event unbeaten he turned what looked a competitive final in to a procession scoring by 5 1/2 lengths in a superb 33.60 (-30), our other two runners Directors Spur and All That Noise could not do anything about the scintillating display of Tony Wonnacott's blue powerhouse eventually finishing 5th and 6th respectfully, we will discuss with Tony in the morning wether to aim Dalcash Scolari at the Essex Vase at Romford or drop him back to 500m att Nottingham with the Eclipse in mind.
Other highlights of the week were the performances of Gottabe Kinda, who was the first of hopefully many open wins for the Droopys Kewell x Kinda Sleepy litter when he won a puppy open at Henlow last Thursday, and great to see Goldcrest Lord land a sprint open win at Romford last Friday after nearly a year off with a serious injury.
We will catch up on all the other news in more detail in the next Newsletter and look out for a new 'Spotlight On' feature.
OPEN RACING
Obviously Dalcash Scolari's Silver Salva win was the highlight of the week. In other races at Henlow Gottabe Kinda took a puppy open by a 1 1/2 lengths in 28.38 (-20) while Directors Ruler was 3rd over 46om and Ayamzagirl on her seasonal return also finished 3rd in a 692m. At Romford on Friday Goldcrest Lord won the sprint in 13.82 (-5), Blonde Fletch came from behind to land a 575m Maiden Stayers by 1 1/2 lengths in 35.69, Kinda Close ran well when 3rd in a bitches open and Goldies Destiny recorded a flying 35.23 (+20) in a 575m Stayers race but still got beat over 3 lengths by Droopys Master who broke the magical 35.00 barrier. Eye Onthe Tempo finished 3rd in the race, Eye Onthe Brave (3rd) and Bourne Masons (4th) also ran well.
YARMOUTH REVIEW
Just runners on Saturday night. Goldies Tara was 4th on her return from seasonal rest in an A2, Scodan Parker ran well when losing his maiden tag scoring by 4 lengths in 28.64, Lil Magic was 3rd in top grade before the promising Kinda Dizzy took an A4 in great style by 9 lengths in 28.72.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK |
OPEN RACE - DALCASH SCOLARI |
WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK
Trials at Nottingham tonight with Kinda Ready, Risky Skipper and Destroy The Camp warming up for the forthcoming Eclipse.
The Henlow Puppy Derby kicks off on Thursday and Kinda Dashing ,Kinda Breezy, Kinda Magical, Gottabe Kinda and Stormbeam should all go well.
At Romford on Friday the Essex Vase begins with 6 first round heats and we should be well represented.
WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS
Dalcash Scolari was an impressive winner of the Henlow Silver Salva though it was a real shame most followers couldn't bet on the event with no major firms pricing it up. We are back in great form and last week's recommended bet Goldcrest Lord duly landed the odds at generous 5/2. This week I can see only one bet and that is Dalcash Scolari to keep his great form going by landing the Essex Vase if we decide to run him.
