DERBY BUILD UP CULMINATING IN BLONDE SNAPPER'S FANTASTIC DERBY FINAL WIN
Yarmouth has its biggest night of the year this Thursday when it stages the East Anglian Derby Final and Charlie Lister bids for a 12th title with 2010 Derby winner Taylors Sky in his favourite trap 1 slot. Taylors Sky might have to play second fiddle in the £15,000 to the winner event to Paul Young's Bubbly Phoenix who is on fire at present. We have no finalist after Darian Chief was eliminated in the semi's but hope to have the likes of Lil Risky, Ayamzaman and Hometown Honey running on the Sky supporting card.
It's an incredibaly busy time on the open race circuit this month and today we have the trials for the Nottingham Produce Stakes where the field has to be reduced to 48 runners for next week's first round. Jazz Tilly, Mountjoy Eagle and Kinda Neat represent our kennel. Tonight the Romford Puppy Cup kicks off with six first round heats and Swift Lucozade and Newinn Chick are joined by an exciting prospect Glanmire Lad who makes his debut for Dick and Ann Barfoot.
Blonde Fletch bids to repeat his 2011 Derby Purse victory at Yarmouth on Wednesday and it was good to see him get back to winning ways in Saturday's heats when he convincingly beat kennelmate Carden Twilight . On the same night Kinda True runs in the Magners Sprint final.
On Thursday Bridge Honcho runs in a super hot Coral Olympic semi-final at Hove, a competition that will take a lot of winning with the likes of Ballymac Eske in attendance.
At Romford last Wednesday the £10,000 to the winner Coral Champion Stakes saw no joy for Dixies Air who was involved in a first bend melee and could only finish fourth to Chris Mosdall's Smiler Jack. Indeed it was a first major win for the likeable Chris Mosdall who I have known for a number of years and it was deserving to say the least. It was a night where both Blonde Reagan and Hometown Honey were both second over extended distances while it was good to see Ayamzaman win on the supporting card landing his 20th win at the Essex track.
Our 5 to Follow competition reaches the halfway stage at the end of this month and by the end of this week you will see a complete list of the dogs available for the second half. You will be able to change as many of your original selections as you like as long as you select two bitches. Brian Usher 4 was the current leader before this week's results but remember previous winners have come from miles off the pace at this stage so it's always worth changing your teams no matter how far down the list you are. All changes have to be completed and e-mailed in by October 1st.
OPEN RACING
Darian Chief pulled off a 33/1 surprise when landing a warm second round heat of the East Anglian Derby at Yarmouth on Monday.

Bridge Honcho won well in his first round heat of the Coral Olympic at Hove on Thursday in 29.82 and at Romford on Friday Mountjoy Orion led all the way to win over 575m in 35.80.
At Yarmouth on Saturday Blonde Fletch beat kennelmate Carden Twilight by 5 lengths in 40.49 in the heats of the Derby Purse at Yarmouth but Darian Cheif was eliminated at the semi-final stage of the East Anglian Derby.
