Our chances of landing the Coral Golden Sprint for a second consecutive year disappeared when Garryglass Rodge missed his break in Friday's Category 1 final at Romford. A fast break from Rodge in trap 3 would have meant he would have cut across the two main dangers Farloe
Barracuda and Droopys Loner on his inside, this would have also allowed our other runner in trap 6 Glanmire Lad to take advantage drawn outwide but it wasn't to be and both Farloe Barracuda and Droopys Loner just beat Glanmire Lad to the bend effectively ending his chances. Farloe Barracuda gave Barrie Draper another big race winner when he held off the game Droopys Loner with our Glanmire Lad back in 3rd and Garryglass Rodge 5th. We will now study the calendar and make some plans for our two finalists leading up to the Derby next month.

The final summed up what was an unlucky day for the kennel. Also at Romford the well fancied Hometown Honey was only 5th in a bunched finish in the Dual Distance final while the prolific Ayamzaman never got much of a run when 3rd. Earlier in the day disaster struck when
Castlebride Dan broke down when contesting a heat of the Pinpoint Recruitment Arc. Dan has been a revelation over the last few months winning two competitions and a match race at Coventry but his career looks over with a badly broken hock. We will know more after today when he visits Stefano Malegori to see what surgery needs to be done but no doubt it is an injury that is a bitter blow for his owners and ou rkennel. Of our five entrants for the Arc only Bridge Ruth is left to fly the flag after she finished 3rd in her heat.

Blonde Tango

I'm back from a family holiday today and will be looking ahead to the Greyhound Derby and many other big races that come up sharply over the next few months. Although both Sidaz Dippy and Melodys Ace could only finish 3rd and 4th respectively in the Perambulate Stakes Final at Coventry last night both should make an impact on the staying scene in the coming months and in Blonde Tango who was an amazing 25/1 winner for us also at Coventry last night he could, along with exciting prospect Blonde Razor (formerly Swift Munster), give Mark Currell another exciting year.

OPEN RACING

Springdale Hawk returned to Mildenhall on Tuesday and won well over 545m but our main open race action was on Friday at firstly Swindon in the afternoon and then Romford at night. As said above it was probably a day to forget with not much going right at either place.

On Sunday at Coventry Blonde Tango pulled off a 25/1 shock when landing a warm puppy race over 480m but no luck in the final of the Perambulate Stakes Final with Sidaz Dippy (3rd) and Melodys Ace (4th). Aayamzabella (formerly Mallogs Holly) qualified for the Maesydd Michael Marathon Stakes Final when 2nd in her heat.

YARMOUTH REVIEW

Kinda Neat

Great to see Swift Pepper return to the winner's podium last Tuesday after recovering from a career threatening injury scoring well in an A4 while Kinda Neat won an A3 well in 28.28.

On Saturday Swift Eire came closest of our runners when just touched off in an A4.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

OPEN - BLONDE TANGO
GRADED - KINDA NEAT

WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK

Tonight Springdale Hawk runs in the heats of the Coral On TV Stayers at Romford. Tuesday sees the start of the Category 1 Coors Three Steps to Victory heats at Sheffield over 480m and Jazz Tilly, Darian Chief and Hometown Honey represent us, although 480m is a bit sharp for all three they should be well capable of qualifying.

On Thursday we will have a few runners at Henlow while on Friday we will back at Romford and then back to Coventry on Sunday night.

WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS

On a bit of a recovery mission after the Golden Sprint I can see all three of our runners in the Coors Three Steps To Victory going well but Jazz Tilly would be my idea of a bet at this stage. Aayamzabella will be a decent price in Sunday's Marathon final but I don't see any reason why
she can't win and we will stick our head out and go maximum stakes on her.

JAZZ TILLY - 2 pts e.w ante-post - Coors Three Steps To Victory - Sheffield - starts Tuesday

AAYAMZABELLA - 5 pts win - Maesydd Michael Marathon Final - Coventry - Sunday

ADVISED LAST WEEK

GLANMIRE LAD - 5pts win - Coral Golden Sprint - Romford - Friday - lost

BRIDGE RUTH - 2 pts e.w ante-post 25/1 - Pinpoint Recruitment Arc -Swindon - Semi's Friday

JAZZ APOLLO - 2 pts e.w ante-post 20/1 - Pinpoint Recruitment Arc - Swindon - lost

ARD TO BEAT - 2 pts e.w ante-post - Pinpoint Recruitment Arc - Swindon - did not run
