Having just returned from my annual trip to Las Vegas for the World Series Of Poker late last night this week's newsletter is a brief catch up on the latest news from our kennel and the Greyhound world over the last two weeks.

Swift ReaganFirstly we are pleased to say that we have no less than three runners in the £15,000 to the winner William Hill Grand Prix final at Sunderland this coming Thursday.

After last week's heats and Saturday's semi-finals this is a great achievement from my team. Swift Reagan led all the way in the second semi-final causing a 20/1 shock in beating kennel mate Dixies Air by over 5 lengths in a good 39.52. Ballintine Molly also made her second consecutive big final when qualifying from the third semi-final when runner up to Pond Shefelia.

Sadly defending champion Blonde Fletch was bashed from pillar to post and could not get a run and was eliminated at this stage. Our three qualifiers in the William Hill Classic did not fare so well with Lil Risky being ko'd in the first semi-final and Ayamzaman also eliminated in 5th place after finding plenty of trouble. Thankfully Lil Risky, who was our only winner at the first round stage, is none the worse for his tumble and will shortly be back in action. Castlebride Dan was also eliminated from the Classic in the second semi-final.

As I said I joined thousands of European poker players on the annual pilgrimage to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker where over 50 bracelet events are held from the start of June to the middle of July at the Rio conference hotel which has nearly 500 tables staging not just bracelet events but daily tournaments and cash tables. The atmosphere is unreal and not just in the Rio, it really is a poker heaven with all the other hotels on the strip staging their own festivals at this time giving all poker players an incredible choice. I had a limited budget and took in some smaller events at the Pallazo without success but a week last Saturday myself and friends Paul Soanes, Dan Daley (owns Benkaat prefix dogs) and Phil Bird got together to enter the WSOP $540 Doubles tournament and we all decided to share any cash that we might win between us. With over 200 teams entered incredibly myself with Paul and Dan with Phil all made the final table of nine where we finished 8th and 3rd respectively and with a deal done between the players before the showdown we all had a payday that more than covered our whole trip. The money also allowed me to play the sensational Wynn Golf course which cost over 100 million dollars to build, all in all a fabulous trip.

Aero Prince

Sarah and my staff all worked incredibly hard while I was away and it was great to see our kennel in fine form with Aero Prince taking the Jamaica Sprint Trophy Final at Coventry being the highlight. Our in depth newsletter will return next week in its full content and we will have our first update of our popular 5 to Follow competition.

Lastly but not least this week is the last chance for Trainers to vote in the GTA election with nominees Rick Holloway and John Simpson in opposition. I am firmly behind Rick to bring a new era to the GTA but most importantly I have a message to ALL TRAINERS, PLEASE SEND YOUR VOTING FORM OFF AND DO NOT WASTE THIS CHANCE TO HAVE YOUR SAY.
