Sid Huett our head kennel hand is all signed up for Julie Collier's 'Fall For Hounds' Sky dive on 16th June and is looking for sponsors . I'm afraid I'm scared of heights and will not be signing up but will be making a massive effort over the next few months to get him well sponsored, click here for his link.
The dust has settled after an emotional and fantastic William Hill Greyhound Derby and straight away our sport has received a massive boost with the announcement that William Hill have raised the bar again by making next year's Derby worth an incredible £250,000 to the winner whilst also hiking the prize money up for 2nd and 3rd place by a huge amount. Already the feeling amongst the owners I have spoken to has been one of amazement and positivity, the search for the next Salad Dodger starts now!
We might be in an age of doom and gloom but our sport has had a great week. Along with the tremendous Derby news the owners and trainers day at Towcester proved a great success with the realisation that we will have a new track in the coming months now looking guaranteed. Towcester's facilities will be second to none and will lead the way for the future of our industry. Kevin Ackerman heads Lord Hesketh's team in getting the Towcester greyhound venture up and running and a more enthusiastic and clever man you will not meet, Chris Page's vast experience will make sure all angles are covered and over the next few months it will all come to fruition.
On the track our kennel is looking over our shoulders as Paul Young and Seamus Cahill ate into our Trainer Of The Year lead slightly but we are still way ahead as we approach the second half of the year. More importantly I think we have a fantastic kennel that has some potential superstars. We are not quite in the form of late last year and early this year and we have had plenty of cough in the kennel of late but the winners are still ticking over. Today the Category 1 Ladbrokes Summer Stayers kicks off at Monmore over 630m and we have a strong hand with El Flutter, Adageo Bob, Aayamzamodel and Blonde Razor all vying for the winner's trophy.
On Tuesday Jazz Tilly returns to Sheffield for another crack at the Three Steps To Victory where she was runner up last year. Her preparation hasn't been ideal since a small injury in the Henlow Gold Cup final last month but if she can qualify tomorrow she will come forward. All roads will lead to Sunderland for all the above after these events as they head for the Grand Prix.
We are only a week away from the Fall For Hounds Skydive and Sid is getting a touch nervous now! Thank you to all that have donated for this event and if you haven't then please give generously! (see the link at the top of this page)
The 'Give A Bit Back' golf day at the London Club was a fantastic day last Thursday raising thousands towards Daren Johnson's target of £100,000. Unfortunately my prediction that our team would win the day was wrong! but I was pleased that Stuart Forsdike's Aero team took the honours. Bobby Davro was a scream afterwards and I couldn't resist buying the pup from Kinda Ready's one and only litter out of the bitch Rockburst Megan that Daren kindly put in the auction afterwards. This seven month old black bitch cost £3,000 in the auction and what I would like to do is offer 10 shares at £400 each (the extra £100 per share is to pay for her schooling), when she is ready to come to our kennel there will be no kennel fees to anyone buying a share and 50% of her prize money earned will go towards the 'Give A Bit Back' charity and 50% back to shareholders so basically anybody buying shares gets a chance to get their purchase price back over a period of time whilst also knowing the charity benefits. A fantastic present to buy for someone, call me on 07721778297 or email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to purchase a share or two.
Later this week the full list of our kennel will be up to choose from for our popular 5 To Follow competition that closes to entries later this month. This FREE TO ENTER annual competition will have three great prizes on offer including a night's stay and tickets for my table at the annual GBGB awards bash in January. Have a study of the list and pick 5 selections (must include 2 bitches) - you can have up to five entries, don't leave it until it's too late!
A huge thank you to the response I received to last week's Newsletter (go to Archives) about my 50th birthday trip to Vegas in a few weeks where I have offered shares in my WSOP Main Event entry, I have just 5% (£300) left on offer if anyone is interested.
On Thursday at Monmore a few of our team warmed up for the forthcoming festival. Ilewin Allot was unfortunately attacked as he was beaten a short head in a 416m, Blonde Razor had no luck in running on his first look at Monmore but should be better today in the 630m Ladbrokes Stayers first round. Both El Flutter and Aayamzamodel trialled well before racing while Blackstone Marco beat a good field over 480m in 28.09 to make sure we didn't go home empty handed.
A similar story at Romford on Friday night as Toosey Snapper (3rd), Rosealinda (2nd), Adageo Brae (3rd) and Aayamzabella (4th) all ran well but again the best was saved for last as Adageo Bob ran riot in a good 575m to win by 8 lengths in a flying 34.80, this is some dog!
Last night great to see Reel Trickyone back to winning form as he scored cosily in the heats of the 550m Lucky 7 at Henlow in a fast 33.07 just over a length outside the track record while Murlens Crash recorded his ninth open win of the year in the Duel Distance heats at Sittingbourne as he won in 16.17.
Just five runners on Wednesday and a debut win by Gigawatt in an A5 by 3 3/4 lengths in 28.61 and Benkaat Boomer scored back to back A1's as he beat a strong field by 3 1/2 lengths in 28.03 while both Ollie Blue and Energize Dan were both 2nd.

WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS
I hope everyone had a good week on our Derby Final night winnings curtesy of Jumbo and Evita! Back to business and the Ladbrokes Summer Stayers at Monmore today kicks off and we have four good runners but for a bet I thought Adageo Bob was best priced of ours and is worth a decent wager.
ADAGEO BOB- 2 pts e.w ante post 12/1 - Ladbrokes Summer Stayers - Monmore.
