St Leger hero's Kinda Easy and Droopys Zach clash again for the third time in a row when they meet in the semi-finals of the Yorkshire St Leger at Doncaster on Tuesday, it was Droopys Zach who reversed the form from the Wimbledon show piece when beating Kinda Easy in the heats last week and with Corrig Vieri winning his heat as well we have a strong hand in the £9,000 to the winner Category 1 event. Eye Onthe Storm made it nine on the bounce when winning a fair open last week at Hall Green and tonight at Nottingham there will be no hiding place as he takes on some top class rivals including Charlie Lister's Farloe Lee in an Eclipse Trial Stake, also in action tonight is Eye Eye Pickle who trialed very well last week over the 500m trip and we hope in these two in particular we can win this tough event which the kennel last won when Linda was the trainer with Mumble Swerve some seven years ago.
At this time of the year we like to bring in some decent pups that can be aimed at top events for next year like the Monmore Puppy Deby (March) and we are pleased with the progress of both Rockburst Canyon, Aero Bolt and Droopys Seve (looks a top stayer in the making) who are all eligible for the competition (April onwards) and like last years Monmore runner up Kinda Ready these are all winning races now, but watch out also in the coming months for some real youngsters in Directors Spur, Kinda Close and Aldataro Lass who could make a big impact on the open race scene.
As every one who attended last years kennel celebration party at 'The Hare' in Roxwell knows it was a great success and a superb let your hair down night enjoyed by our owners, kennel staff and invited guests and i'm pleased to say we have booked this again for the 9th January and invitations will be sent out at the end of the month with further details and after the year we have had a quick response will be needed as places will be definitely limited.
Our vans were clicking up the miles last Tuesday with visits to Newcastle, Doncaster and Hall Green, at Newcastle both Eye Onthe Flash and Kengyelfuto Snow though not disgraced were eliminated from the All England Cup while at Doncaster as said above Corrig Vieri, Droopys Zach and St Leger winner Kinda Easy provided two winners and a second in the heats of the Yorkshire St Leger, at Hall Green the night started well with a confidence boosting win for Goldcrest King (28.57), in a puppy race both Glenagower Champ and Rockburst Canyon ran well when 2nd and 3rd to local Fugazi, Droopys Seve produced a power packed finish to land Division 2 of the 480m Maiden by 3 3/4 lgths in 28.82 (-10), the gutsy Kindred Sparky ran a blinder taking a good class veteran race by 1 3/4 lgths in 28.73 (-10) while in a remarkable turn around of form Gan On Parker produced a great run to beat his Friday conqueror Deanridge Imp by 1/2 lgth in 28.85 (-10), in the feature race of the night the Midland St Leger Final Jogadusc Jasper couldn't recover from a slow start and despite making late headway was only 4th to Bower Surfer in 39.93 (-30), Eye Onthe Storm made it nine on the spin when landing a decent 480m by over 6 lgths in 28.35 (-20) completing an excellent night at the Midland venue.
The only other open race action of the week was Friday at Coventry and Kinda Handy (3rd) and Directors Wit (2nd) ran well in the sprints while Dalcash Scolari got back on the winners podium taking a 480m in good style scoring by 3 1/4 lgths in good 29.56, Bumble Lee didn't get much of a run when 4th and Jogadusc Ace was 5th after leading to the 4th bend and still looks a run short of full fitness.
A disappointing Friday with only Eye Onthe Pulse coming close to winning when he was beaten a nk in an A3 but on Saturday wins for Lord Pishy (26.29) and Genesis Fuzzums (26.57) while pup Legit Jack ran very well in only his second race winning by 4 lgths in 26.93.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
WHAT'S ON NEXT WEEK
Eye Onthe Storm and Eye Eye Pickle head a strong team up to Nottingham tonight in Eclipse Trial Stakes a track where we have a good record this year. On Tuesday the semi's of the Yorkshire St Leger take centre stage at Doncaster with Droopys Zach, Kinda Easy and Corrig Vieri bidding for a place in next weeks live on Sky final, also runners at Hall Green on the same night while on Wednesday opens at Harlow and on Friday at Coventry and Romford complete the week.
WEBSITE RECOMMENDED BETS
Droopys Zach now as short as 3/1 for the Yorkshire St Leger looks to have a good chance of making next weeks final and the 5/1 we had last week could look good value, for a bet this week i think we an wait to Friday and Bumble Lee should enjoy being stepped back up to six bends when he returns to Romford on Friday.
