14 OCTOBER 2017 (see video here)
Running from trap 7 in A8 grade Honey made a level break and was running 3rd out of the 2nd bend. However he kept a wide course and lost ground throughout the race and finished 7th in 29.61.

Honey made a good break from trap 6 in A8 grade and led at the first bend but allowed the favourite through on the inside. He continued in 2nd place until the run in when he was just beaten into 3rd in a time of 29.15.

23 SEPTEMBER 2017 (see video here)
Again 5/1 from trap 8 grade A8 and Honey made an even break and was 3rd at the bend. He drifted wide down the back straight and lost some ground around the next bends but ran on strongly close home to finish 2nd in 29.14.

16 SEPTEMBER 2017 (see video here)
Honey was sent off at 5/1 from trap 8 in A8 grade and early pace saw him vying for 4th place out wide at the 2nd bend.  Some scrimmaging on the inside at the 3rd bend saw him shoot through into 2nd place and he ran on up the run in to finish a close up 3/4 length 2nd in 29.13.

Again from trap 8 in A8 grade on Saturday morning but a poorer break saw Honey involved in some bad bumping at the first bends. He emerged in 4th place and although he challenged throughout the race he was unable to improve on this and his time was 29.65.

A good break saw Honey on the outside of 3 dogs at the first bend, He ran on into 2nd place down the back straight but on the final bend dropped back to 3rd and finished in 29.25.

19 AUGUST 2017 (see video here)
Honey took his place in the first quarter final of the Towcester Graded Derby. Sent off at 14/1 from trap 6 he was not able to make one of his ping breaks and was pushed out wide by the pack at the first bend.  He finished 5th in 29.30.

8 AUGUST 2017 (see video here)
A quick run for Honey as he comes in as reserve for the Graded Derby (£10,000 to the winner!) at Towcester. Running from trap 6 in heat 4 he broke well and contested 3d place at the bend. He maintained this and challenged well on the run in to qualify in 3rd place for the next round in a time of 29.17.

On The Club Social evening Saffrons Honey ran from trap 6 in A8 grade. He did not break well and checked out very wide behind the field at the first bend. He ran on down the back straight into 4th poisition and maintained this to the finish in 29.66

29 JULY 2017 (see video here)
From trap 8 in A8 he broke OK and vied for the lead at the first bends outside of trap 3. They continued to lead the pack until the final bend when Mel gave ground and could only run on to finish 5th in 29.52(-20).

Back to the morning meeting in A8 grade, trap 5 flew the traps and led all the way but Mel broke well from 6 and cut the bend to emerge competing for 2nd place. He took clear 2nd on the 4th bend but then faded slightly on the run in and with the winner clear by 7 lengths he finished a close up neck and short head 4th in 29.55(-10).

Back down to A8 grade on the evening meeting Mel made a complete hash of getting out the traps and was clear last to the bend. He could never get into the race and finished 6th in 29.75.

In his 50th race Saffrons Honey made a poor break from trap 8 in A7 grade at Towcester. A level field at the first bend saw him pushed out wide and he was in 6th place down the back straight. From there he lost his position and finished a disappointing last place in 29.60.

From trap 8 in A7 grade an even break for the field saw Mel held out wide at the first bend. He emerged in 3rd/4th place and remained here throughout most of the race eventually finishing 6th in 29.32.

24 JUNE 2017 (see video here)
Up to A7 after last week's win Mel was sent off at 10/1 from trap 8. A level break saw him a wide placed 3rd at the first bend. He was passed going into the 3rd bend and dropped back to 5th but kept on well and eventually finished 4th in 29.28.

On a very hot sunny morning at Towcester in A8 grade Mel showed good early pace to lead at the first bend and from trap 5 took a good tight position around the bend to pull away from the field.  He ran on well and won by 3/4 length in a very good 28.93 at odds of 5/1.

In a requalifying trial after his fall Mel showed absolutely no ill efects and won a two dog trial in a good 15.67.

In A8 grade at Towcester Mel broke well from trap 7 and attempted to cut in at the first bend. He was knocked over sideways but thankfully got up and completed the race and has suffered no after effects.

27 MAY 2017 (see video here)
Again from trap 7 in A8 grade after an average break Mel cut in well at the first bend and as challenging for 3rd place for most of the race. He did however tie up on the run in and dropped back to 6th place in 29.48.

From trap 7 in A8 grade good early pace saw Mel challenging for second place at the first bend. The eventual 1st and 2nd came past at the final bend but he ran on well to secure 3rd place in a time of 29.36.

29 APRIL 2017 (see video here)
From an unfamiliar middle trap 5 in an 8 dog race Mel did not break well and (despite the rather lazy 'clr run' comments) he was badly bumped at the first bend and came out in 5th place.  He made ground down the back straight and had to check at the 3rd bend. Coming out of the 4th bend he got a clearer run and pushed on into 4th place in 29.69.

Mel ran from trap 6 in A8 grade on the morning meeting.  He broke well and held 2nd place at the first bends. Running wide down the back he let another dog through but on the home straight he ran on well to close up on the leading two and finished 3rd in 29.33.

Another disappointing run from Mel. He broke ok from trap 6 in A8 grade in an evening race but could only manage 3rd place around the first bends. He then lost position throughut the race and finished 6th in a time of 29.56 calc.

A tardy break saw Mel in 6th place at the fist bend. He ran on down the back and challenged for 3rd place at the fourth bend but had to check and dropped back to finish 6th in 30.16.

25 MARCH 2017 (see video here)
Running from trap 6 in A8 grade Mel showed good pace but could not quite clear the pack at the first bend.  He came out in 3rd place and held this position until the home straight where he was passed and finished 4th in 29.46(+10).

From trap 7 in A8 grade Mel made a better break but was held out wide in 2nd place at the bend. He dropped back to 3rd but showed determination to run on again in the home straight to finish 2nd in 29.24.

Back on the Saturday morning card Mel ran from trap 8 in A8 grade. Another tardy break saw him taken wide and to the back of the field at the first bend. He made some progress through the race and finished 6th in a time of 29.80.

From trap 6 in A8 grade on the Towceste evening card Mel did not make his best break and was held wide a the first bends. He finished 3rd in 29.37 calc.

25 FEBRUARY 2017 (see video here)
From trap 6 in A7 grade Mel was sent off 3/1 favourite. It was an even break from the field and Mel was forced to check out wide at the first bend.  He ran most of the race in 4th place and finished 5th in a time of 30.08.

18 FEBRUARY 2017 (see video here)
Again running from trap 8 in A7 grade, Mel was only able to reach the first bend in 2nd place outside of the 6 dog and this is how the race stayed throughout. He finished 2 lengths 2nd in 29.53.

On the Towcester morning card Mel ran from trap 8 in A7 grade where a good break and early pace saw him in a clear lead at the first bends.  He maintained his lead until the third bend when he allowed two dogs to pass him on the inside but he kept on strongly to the line to finish in 2nd place in a time of 29.52.

4 FEBRUARY 2017 (see video here)
In A7 grade Mel did not break well from trap 8 and moved towards the rail at the first bend and got involved in crowding. With the winner long gone he eventually entered the back straight in 4th place and again keeping a tighter berth he ran on up the home straight to finish 3rd in 29.69 calc.

Back to 8 dog racing on Saturday morning and Mel ran from trap 5 in the first race. Not his best break but his early pace took him into 3rd place out of the first bends. He then ran the same race as last week deciding to rail the 4th bend but again could not improve on his 3rd place in a time of 29.81.

21 JANUARY 2017 (see video here)
On the Club's Social Night at Towcester Mel ran in A7 grade. Running from trap 6 he could not make it clear to the first bend and set off down the back straight in 3rd place. He tried to check back to the rails at the 4th bend but could not improve his position and finished in a time of 29.36

Mel broke well from trap 5 in A7 grade but it was a case a deja vu as the same dog as last week gave him an unwanted nudge at the first bend.  He set off in chase of the leader and was gaining ground all the way to the line bu tneither of them saw kennelmate Ribble Ghost finishing like a train on the outside! Mel finished a neck and a short head 3rd in 29.67.

7 JANUARY 2017 (see video here)
Dropped to A7 grade Mel broke well from trap 7 but was just held off wide at the first bend. This allowed two other dogs through but he showed great determination and stamina to keep going and finished 3rd in 29.35 calc.

31 DECEMBER 2016 (see video here)
Again in 8 dog A6 grade on Saturday morning Mel was not able to get to the front at the first bend and although running well in 3rd place down the back straight he was again held out wide at the 4th bend and finished 5th in 29.93.

Still kept in A6 grade Mel made a better break from trap 5 but was just unable to clear the 3 dog at the bend. They both vied for the lead down the back straight but at the 3rd bend the favourite 4 dog cut through on the inside. Mel kept on well though and maintained 3rd place in a time of 29.68.

17 DECEMBER 2016 (see video here)
A good break from trap 7 in A6 grade saw Mel in 2nd place at the first bend. He kept on well and was still in 2nd at the 3rd bend but lacked stamina on the run in and finished 4th in 29.53.

From trap 7 in A6 grade Mel broke well but was held out wide in 3rd place. He gave ground away on the inside throughout the race and finished 6th.

A moderate break from trap 6 in A6 grade saw Mel involved in bunching at the first bend and back down the field. He was not able to improve his position and finished 7th in 29.84 calculated.

26 NOVEMBER 2016 (see video here)
Up to A6 grade again from trap 7 Mel showed good pace to the bend and emerged in 3rd place. He held this until the 4th bend when he dropped back to 4th where he finished in 29.65(-30).

19 NOVEMBER 2016 (see video here)
Again from trap 7 in A7 grade Mel managed to get his head in front at the first bend and took off down the back straight and was not for catching. He held on to win in a time of 29.58(-40).

Running from trap 7 in A7 grade at Towcester Mel showed good early pace to be a clear 2nd at the first bend. He maintained this position to the finish in a time of 29.34(-20).

21 OCTOBER 2016 (see video here)
Mel ran from trap 8 in B7 grade at Towcester. He did not make a good break but showed early pace and cut in at the first bend to emerge in 2nd place. He maintained his position until the third bend when he started to fade and finished 5th in 29.78(-20).

Up to four bends in A7 grade at Towcester Mel showed good early pace from trap 6 to lead by a couple of lengths at the first bend.  He drifted off the second bend and allowed the 3 dog inside him. He ran on down the back to lead again at the third bend but the 3 dog again passed him on the 4th bend and run in to beat him by 2 1/2 lengths. Mel's time was 29.40(-20) and he was 6 lengths clear of the third dog.

7 OCTOBER 2016 (see video here)
Sent of 7/4 favourite from trap 6 in D3 grade at Towcester Mel did not make the best break but showed good pace on the outside to be in contention around the bends.  He ran on to the line and was just beaten a head into 2nd in a time of 16.02(-20).

30 SEPTEMBER 2016 (see video here)
A good break from trap 6 in D2 grade at Towcester saw Mel in 3rd place to the bend. He gave ground keeping wide and dropped to 4th but showed strength on the run in to finish a very close up short head and neck 3rd in 16.01(-10).

Honey was given a try over two bends but unfortunately was pitched in at D2 level! He broke well from trap 5 but took a sideways bump at the first bend and eventually finished 5th in 16.11(-15).

Up to A7 grade Saffrons Honey broke very well from trap 5 to lead clearly at the first bend.  He gave a bit of ground away running wide down the back straight but continued leading until caught on the line by a short head and finished 2nd in 29.39(-20) 

3 SEPTEMBER 2016 (see video here)
In A8 grade at Towcester Mel broke well from trap 6 to lead at the first bend.  The field started to close at the third bend but he found some stamina to push on up the home straight and win by 1 3/4 lengths in 29.34(-10).

31 AUGUST 2016
With a view to switching back to the sprint distance, Mel had a solo run to requalify at Towcester. He recorded 15.90(-20).

In A8 grade Mel showed good early pace to be in a handy 3rd position at the first bend.  He maintained this until the final bend when he began to tire and finished a more distant 4th in 29.58(-10).

A good break from trap 5 in A8 grade saw Mel in a good position at the first bend but he checked out wide and gave ground away around the bends and down the back straight. He finished a close up 6th in 29.78(-10).

Again from trap 5 in A8 grade Mel broke well and challenged for the lead at the first bend where he took a bump. However he ran on strongly down the back straight and easily maintained his 2nd place to the finish in a time of 29.27(-10).

A good break and early pace from trap 5 in A8 grade saw Mel lead around the first bends but he again ran wide and gave ground away and faded back to an eventual 5th place in 29.41(-10).

Back in A8 grade at Towcester on our social evening Mel broke reasonably well from trap 6 and showed some early pace but in trying to cut into the first bend he got involved in bumping. He cam out in 3rd place but ran wide down the back straight and lost his position and finished last in 29.56(-10).

Saffrons Honey came in as a late replacement in A7 grade. He made a great break from trap 5 and led to the first bend but could not quite clear the favourite in trap 4 who took him wide on the bend.  He continued on this wide path and other runners passed him on the inside. He finished a close up 5th in 29.46(-10).

5 JULY 2016 (see video here)
Mel won his first race of 480 metres in A8 grade.  He broke very well (4.12) and had a clear lead into the first bend. He then took a wide course into the back straight and gave ground away and was challenged at the final bends but ran on strongly to maintain his lead and win by half a length in a time of 29.34(-10).

In P8 grade Mel broke well and contested the lead into the first bend but he then took a very wide course off the second bend and down the back straight which let other runners through and he finished 3rd in 29.66(-10).

22 JUNE 2016
Continuing his progress Mel ran a three dog trial at Towcester to get a qualifying time over 480 metres.  He broke well (4.20) and led all the way to win in a time of 29.43(-20).

Running from trap 5 in D4 grade Mel broke well but checked behind the 6 dog at the bend. However it was pleasing to note that he ran on well to the line and finished a close up 3rd in his best time of 15.92(-5).

In D4 grade Mel broke OK but encountered a load of trouble at the bend and finished 4th in 16.34(-5).

20 MAY 2016 (see video here)
After his in Mel was kept inD4 grade but this was a tougher race.  He broke well and was running 2nd to the bend but then lost his line and got baulked.  Running extremely wide he finished in 6th place in 16.30.

6 MAY 2016 (see video here)
From trap 5 in D4 grade at Towcester Mel broke well and was in second place.  He charged the bend running very wide but built up great speed and ran on to win his first race by a length in a time of 16.05(-5). Great run.

26 APRIL 2016 (see video here)
For his long awaited track debut Mel (his kennel name to distinguish from Energize Honey his sister) took his place in D4 grade live on RPGTV.  He broke OK but headed slightly for the rails and then had to check badly behind the 5 dog at the bend.  He straightened himself up and ran on into 5th place in a time of 16.40(-5).

15 APRIL 2016
In his first evening trial over the 260 metre distance at Towcester Honey ran wide but very well and led all the way only to be caught by a short head on the line in a time of 16.07.

6 APRIL 2016
Back on track Honey took his place in a 3 dog sprint trial at Towcester.  H was running well but was then taken out at the bend by his brother!! and finished 3rd in an irrelevant time of 16.36.

Honey's qualification has unfortunately been delayed due to him succumbing to the kennel cough that is prevalent in the kennel at the moment.

9 MARCH 2016
A second 260 metre solo run at Towcestr from trap 3 Honey again recorded a comment f very wide 2 and finished in 16.40.

24 FEBRUARY 2016
Honey ran his very first solo trial in the UK over two bends at Towcester. From trap 4 with comments of very wide he recorded 16.84.
