We have reached the Derby semi finals stage at Towcester this week and though unfortunately we are not involved it is really hotting up. Priceless Jet’s incredible 28.76 track record was the highlight off the quarter finals and as usual we have a mixture of home talent as well as ones from across the water battling it out for the brilliant experience of making a Derby final. It’s been a while since we have been involved but I’m sure it will come at some stage again, of course winning the Derby twice is still the absolute highlight of our successful kennel over the many years now. We would still like to be involved on Derby final night and both Antigua Cuddles, Early Knight and Blueberry Bullet are at the semi final stage in supporting competitions this weekend.
I’m still catching up a bit after a fantastic week's golfing holiday in Florida/Georgia with some close friends which was out of this world, we was lucky to play such iconic and famous courses such as Bay Hill, Sawgrass and Sea Island (definitely my favourite). We were recommended some great restaurants and the highlight was dining out at a stunning sushi place where through a contact world no 38 Garrick Higgo joined us. A brilliant young South African player who has won already on the PGA Tour and twice on the European Tour he is now based in Sea Island and though not qualified for the US Open that starts this week he is preparing for the Scottish and British Open next month. A very nice and charming young fellow he revealed to us that he thinks St Andrew’s will suit his game and if the wind blows a bit he will revel in the conditions, he is 150/1 at the moment. He was really interested in our world and loved talking about Greyhound racing when my friends mentioned that it was my profession and has said he would love to go racing if he was in the UK so hopefully we can make that happen in the future.
It was very hot and humid in Florida last week and later this week we are expecting our own heatwave which always makes it difficult to work. Our kennels are very cool in the summer and the dogs are not keen to be out too long when its really hot so we tend to start earlier in the morning and let out early evening when it’s cooled down. Our vans are air conditioned thankfully for travelling so hopefully we don’t get any problems as we have a busy schedule Fri/Sat at Romford/ Towcester and Monmore. We are finding it hard to get all the open race dogs out at the moment and I’m not really keen to travel anywhere but the three tracks above for open racing plus these days we have to trial anywhere first which itself doesn’t make it easy going around the country.
duggee_dodo1.jpgDuggee Dodo won his semi final of the Coronation Cup in a fine 35.15 but despite running well could only finish 3rd in the final last Friday. Antigua Princess bounced back to winning ways scoring in 35.46 and Aero Activate ran well to take a 400m in a fine 24.05.
blueberry_bullet_fd.JPGAntigua Cuddles was so close to qualifying for the Derby quarter final but bowed out in the third round. She again ran well to qualify for the bitches comp last Saturday while Blueberry Bullet won very well on Friday in the 712m stayers event in a fast 44.02.
At Monmore a week last Saturday we had a good night with four winners, Nearlylagertime (38.65), Swift Quincey (28.52), Bombardier (37.94) and Druids On Song (28.68) all won well though it wasn’t such a successful return last Saturday with just one winner in Antigua Hope (38.38).
breakfast_club_fd.JPGJust the one winner a couple of weeks ago as Breakfast Club at last got her head in front in an A2 in 23.90.
Last week we had a better week as Saffrons Dash (24.10) Energize Tok (24.14) and Breakfast Club (24.04) all won on Monday at Suffolk Downs while on Tuesday Saffronssenorita (24.54) and Swift Pinch (24.09) also won while at Towcester Moyvane Image won an A1 well in 29.51.

The weather will determine weather we have any runners at Romford on Friday. Towcester’s opens have all switched to Sunday and we have plenty of interest in several competitions for Derby Final night both Saturday and now Sunday.
Both our ante post selections advised a couple of weeks ago made the frame.
Best bet of the week has to be Antigua Cuddles on Sunday in the bitches semi final from trap 2 and in a strong race she should be priced reasonably.
ANTIGUA CUDDLES - 3 pts win - Towcester - Sunday
ANTIGUA CUDDLES - 1 pt ew ante post 25/1 - Bitch to go furthest in Derby - Towcester - 3RD
DUGGEE DODO - 2 pts ew ante post 14/1 - Coronation Cup - Romford - 3RD
