Sometimes it's nice to get away for a short break and this weekend I enjoyed a couple of days golf in Scotland with a few friends. We stopped at the magnificent Archerfield Links golf club, certainly one of the finest courses and facilities I've had the pleasure of playing. On both Saturday and Sunday we of course had both the European Championship and the US Open golf to relax and watch afterwards with a few drinks which capped off a tremendous weekend. I must say thanks to Scott Fraser for his hospitality and also mention the small matter of our Scottish friends giving us southerners a proper lesson in how to play golf up there!

Ievanta_fantasy_fd.jpgt's been mad catching up on a few things at the kennel and although we weren't over stretched we had plenty of runners at Towcester on Friday and Saturday and on Sunday we had a tricky semi final of the Henlow Mini Derby for both Saffrons Anna and Evanta Fantasy who were drawn together in the middle but a bullet break from Evanta Fantasy saw her win well in an excellent 25.39 with Saffrons Anna eliminated after finding trouble. Evanta Fantasy has drawn trap 3 in this Sunday's £2,500 to the winner final and another slick exit will give her a great chance.

This Saturday we travel to Sunderland for trials for both the William Hill Classic and Grand Prix. Clondoty Alex, Roswell Iceman and California will go over 450m while Patchys Kerry, Billys Bullet, Ferryforth Fran and Garryglass Pixie trial over the 640m with the first round heats kicking off a week later. This is a strong team and all will go into the event reasonably fresh. Our Oaks heroine Domino Storm returns this week as well with a sprint tomorrow at Towcester and will trial over 500m at Nottingham on Monday in preparation for the Select Stakes on July 5th in which she was a fine 3rd last year, no doubt it will be a hot one again.

Our list of runners for our popular 5 to Follow competition is up now if you go to our home page. It's FREE TO ENTER and you can have up to five teams, each team must include at least 2 bitches but you can have more if you wish. There are nearly 80 to pick from and there might be a few new names that will be due to run shortly so keep an eye on those, I'm sure many of the established stars will be popular but there are always a few surprises along the way. We have some nice prizes on offer including two tickets at my table with overnight stay at the annual GBGB awards bash in January, a table of four in the restaurant at Towcester on any night of your choice and for those sporty people either a round of golf for two people with me at Wentworth in March (or cash prize to the value), so make sure you don't miss out as this is a great competition to follow over the next six months.

At Towcester last Tuesday Rubys Rascal won his heat of the Puppy 500m in 29.38, Roswell Iceman was impressive winning the 480m Standard by over 8 lengths in a very good 28.04 while Ferryforth Fran put in another solid performance over 655m winning in 39.83.

Our only other open racing was at Henlow where Evanta Fantasy won her semi final of the Henlow Mini Derby.

Ninja Frankie was best of our graded runners on Tuesday when 2nd. On Friday Swift Clare followed up her previous win with another good victory in an A6 in 28.72, Calco Swift ran well when 2nd.

roswell_redkite_fd.JPGOn Saturday Energize Honey scored her first win in 29.14 and Airforce Karla came from off the pace to win a D2 in 15.57. Swift Windmill is a pup to follow and she again looked good scoring in 28.75 but most impressive of the night was   a fine win from Roswell Red Kite who scorched (4.06 sec) to 5 1/4 length victory in a fine 28.15. Sligo Star made it an excellent night with a 28.64 win beating kennel mate Tellhimjohn by 1 1/4 lengths.

A great card tonight at Towcester with the final of the Puppy 500m with Rubys Rascal the feature.

Our big guns travel up to Sunderland on Saturday for trials for the William Hill Festival a week Saturday and on Sunday Evanta Fantasy has a decent chance in the Henlow Mini Derby final.

Saffrons Anna's draw in the semi final of the Henlow Mini Derby was her downfall and I'm somewhat wondering why I never put up Evanta Fantasy who now has a great chance in the event. Not too much happening competition wise so we will wait until next week for the William Hill Festival.
