Eye Onthe Flame bids for a second Grand National (Lethal Rumble 2005) at Wimbledon on Tuesday where he is in trap 5 and after his bold effort when winning Friday's semi-final we fancy our chances of upsetting the favourites. Talking of Wimbledon, I was amazed at the large crowds attending the track on my recent visits but after watching last week's 'The Dogs' programme you can say it's definitely down to new General Manager Darren Kennedy and his fresh ideas that have rejuvenated Plough Lane (Walthamstow take note!) a stadium a year a go that was dying on its feet.

It has been largely a good week for the kennel with plenty of graded and open winners but one win in particular, that of Pinehurst Silk on Tuesday night, has really pleased us. Having only her second race back since breaking a wrist last July she trounced a good A6 in a fast 29.03 giving her owners, headed by Michael Haggas, a massive boost and as Michael said to me 'some of our greatest training performances will go unnoticed' and yes 'Silk's' win was no Category 1 but it felt like it! Well done to all involved in getting her back to the track.

My legs and body are in turmoil at the moment after yesterday's bruising encounter between Walthamstow's all-conquering football team and Fairways F.C who challenged us. After unluckily falling behind 4-2 in the second half it was looking grim for us but a titanic fight back saw us come through to a 5-4 victory with the excellent Sam Walker scoring the winner and now we look forward to annihilating Crayford's wannabes in a couple of weeks' time.

Genesis Alix won well on Tuesday in the Assured Delivery Marathon heats over 790m at Peterborough beating the well backed Imaal Lily by 2 1/2 lengths in 50.59 (-60) and at Sheffield in the semi-final of the Stones Puppy Silver Collar Missed A Train safely booked his place in Saturday's final when second to the impressive Blonde Fern beaten 1 1/2 lengths in a fast 28.95 (+30).

Bell Tornado was ko'd in the first race on an all open card at Walthamstow on Thursday but has come off OK. In another division of the Ocean Trailers Puppy trial stake Lockdale Diamond bounced back to his very best when blowing away the opposition by 7 lengths in a calc 28.72 while in Division 2 Directors Ruler was runner up beaten 2 1/4 lengths by Droopys Oi Oi. Aero Blackjack had no answers to Big Brett Coal in the 640m Stayers when beaten 3 1/4 lengths in 39.73(-40). In what was becoming a Seamus Cahill night (7 winners) it was pleasing to get a
kennel 1-2 in the last with Genesis Dream getting win number 9 for the year beating Discreet Cat 4 1/4 lengths in 39.65 calc.

On a busy Friday night's open race action we were involved in three competitions at different tracks. At Wimbledon as mentioned above Eye Onthe Flame won and at Romford Seanis Lad was a well beaten third but qualified for next Friday's semi-final and in a supporting race, a 750m Maiden, Mooloolaba caused a surprise (6-1) when leading trap to line in 48.43 . At Hall Green the heats of the William Hill Blue Riband got underway but it didn't start well when Seanis Strike was knocked over in the first heat. In the second heat our two runners Rockburst Mason and Eye Onthe Force were pitched in together but managed second and third respectively behind Fantasy Tiger and in heat 4 Commander Chief also qualified in 3rd.

Two finals on Saturday - the £5,000 to the winner Stones Puppy Silver Collar final looked on paper like Missed A Train would have a great chance but it disappeared when he messed up his break and then found trouble at the second bend and although he was last he was only beaten 4 lengths. At Peterborough in the final of the Assured Delivery Marathon over 790m final worth £1,000 to the winner Genesis Alix was made 4/5 fav and when she popped out and led this jealous bitch saw off the early challenge of Imaal Lilly and comfortably held off the finish of Ardagh Vibes in 50.62 (-60) by 2 1/2 lengths to deservedly win her first competition.

On Monday's Bag's card Megusta Manners was second before Ortuna regained the winning thread with a 1 1/2 length success in 29.23 with Ants Gunner back in third. Special Roxi was third and Centaur Elise finished strong to win by 1/2 length in 29.35. Centaur Fuzzoms, Notanothersecond and Lews Trickster were all second.

Tuesday night's graded card saw King Jackson land the first win for the Droopys Nectar litter winning by 1/2 length in 29.81. Centaur Gemstone showed great early and hung on for a win by 3/4 length in a good 29.37. Kinda Classic showed great back straight pace to finish 2nd with Chilli Blue in third behind Seven Gold Bars. As stated above Pinehurst Silk won as did Castlemary Podge who made no mistake dropping back to graded racing winning in 29.20.

On Saturday Treacle Satin ran on to be second in an S2 and looks likely to get further. Jonos Patience led to the run in but couldn't hold the challenge of both Ballymac Barton and Hunters Choice beaten a length in 29.45 (-10). Eye Onthe Power won the S1 from kennel mate Centaur Cappo by 3 3/4 lengths in 40.25 (-15) and in the other S1 we had another 1-2 with Genesis Sister beating Twilight Fantasy by 4 lengths in 40.32 (-15). Both Castlemary Podge and Centaur Iris ran well when runners up in their races.

A busy week begins on Monday with the heats of the T.V Marathon at Romford with Centaur Cappo and Genesis Sister on show. Grand National time on Tuesday with Eye Onthe Flame flying the flag for us and in-form Genesis Alix on the supporting card. Hall Green as well Tuesday with the semi's of the William Hill Blue Ribband with only two qualifying for next week's fina. The Bill Mckluskey-sponsored Ocean Trailers Puppy Stakes begins on Thursday with a strong representation from our kennel. Aero Blackjack is a possible entry in next week's Regency at Hove while on Friday its Golden Sprint time at Romford with Seanis Lad in the semi's.
